Just loaded up AMT for the first time and the
library loading report states numerous missing
parts despite having AC11,AMT AND SAMPLE PROJECT libraries loaded.I`m using the template in Australia (currently converting it for metric use)
-should I download the American AC11 library for use with the template?

Paul -

Yes, you will need the U.S. library to see the SAMPLE project PLN properly, and even the template itself (the TPL file). We have provided links and instructions for downloading the U.S. library on the main download page.

In the near future we should have a version of the template that uses the International library and metric standards. We'll post a news item once that is available. Thanks for your understanding and patience until we can prepare the new files.

I am having the same issues here in the UK but cannot download the US libraries for some reason. I am getting server time out errors or similar and tried both windows and mac browsers with same result.
Can you help please?
P.S. I notice these links are to Graphisoft so maybe they have removed them?
P.P.S. I only require these because I am using Start Edition and would be interested to know if anyone else is using the SE Template and whether to start a new topic on this for other users of SE?

Mike -

I checked with Graphisoft U.S. and it turned out that they had a temporary problem with the server that took the tech support download area offline for several days. In fact, they didn't know there was a problem until I asked them about it.

Try it again, and let us know what happens. There may be some other things we need to do to help you get set up properly with Start Edition 2009.

I have now tried to download these again and it does down load them but then comes up with an error that it cannot unzip the file and the file is 0 bites rather than 49 mb
Have tried it twice now.
All a little frustrating because I would like get on using the whole template but can only use and read some parts of it!!
Any further help you can provide would be welcome.
Thanks.
Mike.

Sometimes when you start to download a file but it does not complete, the browser will fail to download it when you try it a second time. It may think that it already has successfully downloaded it, and not try it again. This may explain the 0 bytes rather than the actual file size.

To clear that up, you can empty the cache of the browser (typically, in the Internet Options or Preferences depending on which browser). Then it will attempt the download again fresh.

Another approach is to try the download with a different browser, perhaps Firefox or Google Chrome etc.

Please let us know what happens when you try one of these strategies. I am willing to download the files and post them on our own FTP if necessary, but would prefer not to do that if you can resolve this yourself.

unfortunately still no joy.
The second part of the file will not download at all - it starts but just gets stuck.
I am using Safari on iMAc so it should work but have also tried downloading under windows with the same results and I do not have another browser installed at the moment.
Sorry to be a pest but if you could put them on an ftp site or give me some other way of accessing them that would be great. I could give you access to my ftp if that helped.
Thanks.
Mike.

Hi Eric,
As an alternative could you simply create the sample SE project as an archive and will not all the library parts come with it?
If this was available as a download and/or email it to me if it is not too massive?
Thanks,
Mike.

Mike -

I have posted on our FTP the main U.S. ArchiCAD 11 Library.lcf file for you to download here (about 31 mb).

After unzipping you'll have a file called Object Library 11.lcf. This came from my PC, so I'm not sure if it's usable on a Mac (I think it is). If you load that with the sample file, you should see the objects, doors and windows properly. You may get some messages about missing textures, which you can ignore as you study the sample file.

If you want the complete U.S. Library, you can download the rest of the content here (about 126 mb). After unzipping, place these folders along with the LCF file from the earlier download into a single folder called ArchiCAD Library 11, and load that in your Library Manager.

By the way, I can't easily post an archive file, since a project file made by the full commercial version of ArchiCAD cannot be read by the Start Edition. Only Graphisoft can convert a file "downwards" - we had to get them to do this to create the TPL and Sample files for use by Start Edition users.

We made the Start Edition version of MasterTemplate in the winter of 2008 after getting a few requests. It was based on the U.S. version of MasterTemplate, since we had not yet created an International version - that came out in late spring of 2008. Now we maintain both U.S. and International versions of MasterTemplate, but have not gone back to adapt the Start Edition 2008 U.S. version to International standards. It is a large undertaking every time we create an alternate version.

I hope you are able to adapt the MasterTemplate materials to your use - taking the U.S. Start Edition 2008 files and studying them and reworking the Legend to the International Library for SE2009. I'll be happy to give you further advice as you proceed, but I know there will be some extra work for you and I apologize. If we get more requests to support the International Start Edition, we'll consider doing an official version for it.

Brilliant - I now have it all operational. There seem to be a couple of objects (stairs) missing but that is neither here nor there.
I fully understand the issues around an International Version of the SE templates and I would be very surprised if it was worth the time and effort at the moment. By definition users of SE will tend to be small single person practices or individuals (like myself) using SE for specific projects and, hence, the type of template would tend to be more straightforward anyway.
Having said that I am learning a great deal from the template and copying those areas I need into my own version. The concepts and ideas are excellent and the demo project is a first class example of best practice and I absoltely regard it as money well spent.
So very many thanks for your help and I will keep in touch (without being a pest I hope!) and continue to use your forum and site for ideas and best practice.
If there are any other SE users out there I would be happy to hear from them to swop ideas.
Many thanks with genuine appreciate for your valuable time and effort,
Mike.
