During a stage of a project it is normal to revise a layout and re-issue that layout (without needing to re-issue the whole package).

You can simply mark up the layout and publish, but is there a better way?

I know Cadimage have produced an excellent revisions tool and Graphisoft worked on some add-on change control software a while back but what is best practice for current (vanilla) ArchiCAD?

Record PDFs (with revision letters/numbers in the filename)?

Current and previous annotation layers for revision notes/deltas/clouds on layout sheets?

Auto-text on layouts?

How should this be controlled or recorded on the drawing index?

An extra column for each view: ID-Name-Current Revision?

These are good questions and I'm not an expert in this area. I believe Cadimage's Revision Manager is a good option if you have a lot of revisions to deal with on complex projects, since it tracks them for you and enters information automatically. However, the main idea is to come up with a system and follow it!

I don't think that Auto-text will help, aside from showing the latest revision date or print date automatically.

You might consider asking this question on ArchiCAD-Talk, since there will likely be many people who will share their preferred approaches and you will get a lively discussion.
